Accessing Wellbeing Support

The Wellbeing Service is committed to providing all students, who face a wellbeing or mental health challenge, timely access to professional advice and support. Students are encouraged to book an appointment to discuss any concerns in confidence with either a mental health or wellbeing adviser. Students can access support for concerns such as:

  • homesickness
  • relationships issues
  • academic stress
  • adjustments to study
  • mental health issues

Booking an Advice & Guidance (A&G) Appointment

Bookings for all Student Support and Wellbeing services, including Wellbeing Advice and Guidance appointments, is via our Student Support Portal (select the 'Health and Wellbeing' tile), or you can follow one of the below links to book:

Appointments run Monday-Fridays (during term time only).

If you are unable to attend your appointment for any reason, please use the 'view or cancel booking' option in the confirmation email or in the 'appointments' section of your Student Support portal to reorganise or cancel. Please do this as soon as possible so we can offer the opportunity to another student. Please note, during busy periods i.e. leading up to assessments and exams our flexibility for appointments may be limited.

What to expect from my Advice & Guidance Appointment

You can expect to receive a 30 minute remote (Teams or telephone) appointment with a member of the Wellbeing team where you can talk about your situation and receive tailored advice to suit your needs.

If deemed appropriate during your appointment you may be offered up to 3 sessions of mentoring to students that require short-term holding support.

We follow a stepped-care model approach (an accessible version can be downloaded here) therefore your adviser will recommend the most effective, least intensive treatment first. Where students' needs cannot be met 'in house', students will be directed to NHS services and/or other specialist organisations for support.
