Apprentices

Please contact the Disability and Dyslexia team if you have a disability or health need and are starting a Degree Apprenticeship at the University.
We will ask you to complete a Support Pathway on the Student Support portal to share information about your needs, the potential barriers, and what has/may help you to overcome these.
When you have completed this pathway, an advisor will contact you to discuss the reasonable adjustments we can anticipate to support you throughout your university studies. Link to ‘Reasonable adjustments.’
Apprentices are not eligible to apply for the Disabled Students’ Allowance. If an additional resource is needed to enable you in your studies, the advisor will discuss and assess this with you and liaise with the Apprenticeship team for approval for this resource. Any equipment purchased for an Apprentice based on an assessment of individual need is purchased as a loan to the Apprentice for the duration of their time on the course at the university and is subject to the university’s Equipment Loan Agreement. (Equipment Loans | Support and Information Zone)
We request that Apprentices keep in touch with your link advisor throughout their course to review the adjustments and support in place, the impact they are making, and update as required. A review will take place at least every three calendar months, but we encourage Apprentices to contact their link advisor if a review is needed more urgently.
Any adjustments or resource needed during your time in the workplace need to be discussed directly with your employer. If you are on a Nursing apprenticeship, adjustments for the workplace will be discussed with the appropriate advisor.
